Today I had the honor of attending the swearing in of two new officers to the Highland Park Police Department. As public safety is a core priority of the City, these positions were added during the 2012-2013 budget process.
These recruits will now undergo a 3.5-month field-training program in preparation for solo patrol duties beginning in mid-October.
Officer Kiersten Trillhaase is a native of Lake Forest. Prior to graduating from the Police Academy, she graduated from the DePaul University Honors Program with a 3.97 GPA, a double major in Psychology and Communication Studies and a minor in Spanish.
Officer Safik Ghogha was raised on the north side of Chicago and currently lives in Skokie with his wife. A graduate of the Police Academy, he is also pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Management at National Louis University.
Please join me in welcoming our newest officers to our Police Department. And if you see them on the street, be sure to say hello and introduce yourself.
